Monthly Cookbook Giveaway

I thought it would be fun to have a monthly cookbook giveaway, being that Dan and I own a used and rare bookstore where the books seem to multiply on the shelves each night. The plan is to offer a free book shipped free of charge to one of our Wheat-Free, Meat-Free readers anywhere in the world. I plan to pick a new cookbook each month and will randomly draw names out of a hat, or maybe a cooking pot, to determine the winner. All you need to do is leave a comment after this post by May 31st. I will wait until the next day to announce the winner.

The cookbooks will not be gluten-free (those get siphoned off into our home library) or necessarily vegetarian, and will all be in Good used condition. For the first cookbook giveaway I am offering one of my old standbys, Tassajara Cooking, by Edward Espe Brown (Boston: Shambhala, 1985). This is a classic vegetarian cookbook, originally published in 1973 by the San Francisco Zen Center and has a wealth of tasty, simple and beautiful vegetable recipes. I would never have thought that dipping lightly steamed asparagus in guacamole would be such a handsome and delicious duo, but thanks to Brown's great book, this is a favorite combo when the asparagus patch gets rockin' and rollin'--maybe next week?

Good luck to all.......

Also, if you want to win a free copy of Sheridan Hay's novel "The Secret of Lost Things", you can boogie over to my bookstore blog, The Book Trout and leave a comment on the appropriate post.

I've seen the Tassajara Bread book before, but never that book. Asparagus dipped in guacamole sounds wonderful!

Hello. Please throw my name in the hat for this lovely vintage cookbook!

I'm new to your blog. I've been vegetarian (lacto-ovo...occasionally pesco) for about 10 years and gluten free for 3 months. What a transition!!!

I'm so grateful for wonderful blogs like yours to help me with this confusing journey.
