Last month our cookbook giveway involved an oh-so-gently-used copy of Adam Roberts' "The Amateur Gourmet" and the lucky winner is Muse in the Kitchen. Congratulations to the Muse, a duo of two foodies and their explorations in the kitchen, which lately involved a mondo homemade lobster roll. Be sure to check that out!
For the July cookbook giveaway, I have prowled the shelves of our used and rare bookstore, Old Saratoga Books, and my eyes landed on the jolly, dapper figure of Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet, a star in the pre-Food Channel Seventies, when Graham and Julia Child ruled the American foodie airwaves. The book up for grabs is a 1969 edition of "The Graham Kerr Cookbook" and provides many black and white photos of the recipes, along with ingredients listed in U.S., Imperial and Metric measurements. A vintage blast from the past with a dollop of Graham's free-wheeling humor.
Learn how to make such retro gourmet delicacies as Mrs. Enid Small's Brandied Prunes, Poached Eggs with Chartreuse Sauce, Broiled Chicken Carson and Peas a l'Etouffe. Kerr's training as a London hotel cook and experience cooking in New Zealand is also reflected in some of the other recipes featuring fresh fish and shellfish. The book is in Good used condition with some cooking spatters on the pages and a rather tattered jacket.
To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment below by the deadline of July 31, midnight, and a winner will be randomly picked after that date. Good luck to everyone!
